|THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Matt Jacobs, Federal Prosecutor and Republican nominee for U.S. Congress in California’s 26th District calls on Rep. Julia Brownley to participate in a series of debates this fall, including the debate being planned by the Ventura County League of Women Voters.|
Earlier this month, Jacobs attended a “Meet the Candidates” forum hosted by several Ventura County agricultural groups. This was the first opportunity for voters to hear jointly from both candidates. But Rep. Brownley declined to attend.
“I call on Rep. Brownley to end her ‘basement campaign’ and agree to a series of public debates. It’s about respect for voters and the democratic process. The people of this community deserve to know where we stand on the issues,” Jacobs said.
“I look forward to contrasting my commonsense approach to addressing the issues facing our community and country with Rep. Brownley’s record of failure and neglect. Her votes have led to rampant inflation, record-high gas and food prices, the release of violent criminals, and dismal educational outcomes for so many children. All the while, Rep. Brownley has falsely claimed to be an ‘independent voice’ for Ventura County, while voting 100% of the time with her party’s leadership.
“Voters deserve the opportunity to hear from both candidates in a neutral, nonpartisan forum so that they can decide for themselves who will best serve our community in Congress.”
